Crown Street Surgery is a purpose built surgery. Our practice area covers Swinton, Kilnhurst, Wath-upon-Dearne, Mexborough. We are only able to accept patients who live in these areas.
There are no parking facilities for patients at the surgery unless they are disabled. Patients are requested to use the free public car parks on Queen Street and Church Street. Please do not park on Crown Street. This ensures that our neighbours can park outside their own homes.
We have two parking spaces at the front of the building that are marked for the disabled. The surgery is on one level and there are toilet facilities for the disabled.

If you need the Doctor to visit please try to ring before 10.30am. Home visits are for people who are housebound or are too ill to travel to the surgery. The receptionist will always ask you the nature of the problem, as this will enable the Doctor to decide the urgency of the visit. Home visits are very time consuming. In the time it takes to visit one patient at home your GP can see several patients in the surgery. Hence, in most cases, the Doctor phones first to check the nature and need for home visits. Lack of transport is not an acceptable reason for requesting the Doctor to visit
Named Accountable GP
As of 1 April 2015 all patients have a named GP who is responsible for their overall care at the practice. This does not prevent you from seeing any GP of your choice in the practice as you currently do now,if available. For details of your named GP please contact the surgery.
GP Net Earning
All GP practices are required to declare the mean (eg average pay) for GP’s to deliver NHS services to patients at each practice.
The average pay for GPs working in Crown Street Surgery was £40,251 before tax and National Insurance. This is for 4 full time GPs, 1 part time GP and 1 locum GP who worked in the practice for more than six months.
Patient Participation Group (PPG)
Are you interested in becoming a member of our PPG? We gather as a group on a quarterly basis as we want to hear from our patients about ideas to help us improve the service we provide. We do try to be as efficient as possible but there are always areas where we can improve. We feel that the Patient Group can help in a number of ways:
- By creating a channel for communication and discussion between the surgery and the patients
- By hopefully fostering a sense that the practice is listening and that healthcare is a partnership between the surgery and patients.
- To allow a forum for discussion and patient input into the way healthcare services are planned, and for us to explain what problems and practical difficulties we face in delivering good quality healthcare.
- To act as a forum for discussing and commenting on government policies and how they impact on us at local level.
If you would like to join then please ask to speak to Sarah Caddick Practice Manager for more information.
